Paco Rabanne is an extraordinary Spanish-born designer behind the French fashion house. The penchant for everything unique, extravagant, and dramatic has made this talented person and his eye-catching creations well-known throughout the world. For today, Paco Rabanne is not only a renowned ready-to-wear producer but also a leading creative brand in the world of perfume and fragrance.

History
Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo, known as Paco Rabanne, was born in 1934 in the Spanish city of San Sebastian. Five years later, his family moved to Paris because of the Spanish Civil War. When Francisco was 18, he offered several of his design works on jewellery, accessories, and buttons to the famous Balenciaga House of Fashion. Initially, he did that to pay for his studies at the National School of Art in Paris. However, after a time, orders for the original Paco Rabanne’s accessories started to come from such celebrated fashion homes as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Givenchy. Aged 32, Paco Rabanne launched his own brand. It was in 1966, the time that brought great changes in art. Unusual materials, textures, and shapes became a new trend, and Paco Rabanne couldn’t remain aloof from it. His first collection of innovative clothing designs made of metal and plastic discs known as “12 Unwearable Dresses” threw the whole Paris into a state of shock. Nevertheless, it was a success that made a Spanish designer known far beyond the borders of France!

Legacy
Paco Rabanne, an extravagant designer often called the “wild child” of the French fashion world, didn’t stop on clothing and accessories. Since its launch, the brand has been producing fantastic perfume lines. The debut was a women’s fragrance Calandre released in collaboration with PUIG in 1969. For today, Paco Rabanne fragrances are distinguished not only by their olfactory combinations and exquisite aromas but also by incredible perfume bottle designs. Thus, talent and genius of Paco Rabanne are recognized all over the world. No wonder that the best museums of Spain, Paris, Tokyo, and New York compete for the right to exhibit his masterpieces!
